Elder Powell: Last week of June

Howdy!

Happy Monday!! I cannot believe it’s finally the last week of June. I am anxious to see the remainder of miracles the Lord has in store for us these last couple of days. In more news, in ONE month from today I will be arriving back in Utah! I am looking forward for the month of July full of activities, special events, opportunities, and memories made. Summer 2K18 is one to remember. In preparation for my return, I would like to announce the plans that will take place.

  • I will be picked up from my Mission and flying our airplane back home to the South Valley Regional Airport. There will be a gathering taken place at the airport as I fly in. The address is: 7365 South Airport Road, West Jordan, UT. 84084.

Sunday July 29th, 2018 @ 10:30am

  • My Homecoming Talk will be given at this time with the Church address located at: 8945 South 1700 East Sandy, UT. 84093
  • Directly following Sacrament Meeting, there will be a lunch at my house located just down the street from the church located at: 9047 South 1700 East Sandy, UT. 84093

I look forward to seeing each of you once again! After today, there will be only four emails remaining. Let me know if you have any questions or clarifications about my Homecoming. Thanks to each of you for all your love and support these (almost) two years!

This past Tuesday I had my last Zone Conference! We talked a lot about being able to teach all lessons using pamphlets in five minutes or less. It was also the last time Zone Conference lunch was planned around me….haha we had delicious Hawaiian Haystacks. Yumm! At the end, all the departing missionaries gave our departing testimonies. Everyone said I was too happy and smiley to be up there!

Afterwards, we went on exchanges with Elders Coles and Dorsey. A few weeks ago, Elder Munoz and myself found a new investigator that is starting up his flying lessons and has a passion for Aviation. Elder Coles also loves Aviation and Flight Simulation so he and I went to visit Shelton that evening while on exchanges. My companion and Elder Coles companion have also gone with us a couple times so far with all four of us at his house some days. Shelton loves each of us so dearly and is asking to be baptized as soon as possible. Elder Coles and myself were able to setup his Flight Simulator while Elders Munoz and Dorsey were able to teach him a bit. We are able to teach him by teaching to his needs and desires – which right now is all about airplanes and flight simulator. It has been so awesome for Elder Coles and myself to be able to teach someone using something we both love! We practically teach flying lessons and the Gospel all in one. He loves the church and admires the missionaries. We love Shelton so much!

NOW is the time for. . . . . ❤️ #FridayNightDateNight! ❤️ #DateNights are busy and exciting in the BIG D during the summer months. If you could guess where we went to that evening…..you may be thinking of a place that sells delicious chicken??? Maybe…Chick-Fil-A??? That’s right! And what an incredible evening it was. We sat down with our food and a couple minutes in, we were approached by a newly married LDS Couple and we talked about where we and they were from and that they got married in the Salt Lake Temple only FOUR months ago! I was so excited for them. They sat down with us and then…..the General Manager who we are super close with ahaha brought over another young couple to all of us and mentioned that we are “Gospel Wedding Experts!” Oh goodness. I got all excited and asked the situation they were in and they said they are getting married in September! Then they said they heard that we believe in marriage and family after this life so we dove into a great conversation about Eternal Marriage and Family and they both cried! The guy is 25 and his fiancé is 23. The LDS Couple also got involved in the teaching and bore their testimony about it. But then there’s MORE! The couple we were teaching had some friends inside as well and they yelled at them to come over and join the conversation with all 8 of us in a huddle at Chick-Fil-A and the friends have been married for two years and they asked a lot of questions, it was exciting!! We walked out with four new investigators in 30 minutes. It was incredible. They are the cutest couples in the world and excited to see them continue to learn and grow their relationship in their Loving Heavenly Father. What a wonderful and delightful visit to Chick-Fil-A once again.

Missionary Work should be personalized to your own knowledge, skills, talents, and personality. We all bring something new to the table to share the message of the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Share this message by simply being yourself. The Lord wants YOU to be His Missionary. It should and can be a natural thing. Let it be a joyful experience that gives your opportunity and strength. I am grateful for these last four weeks to be a full-time missionary and share His message to my brothers and sisters.

Thanks for all your continued love and support. Have a wonderful safe week and happy July!!

Bye :)
