Elder Powell: Happy June!!

Hey y’all!

Happy Memorial, Monday, New Week, and Tuesday Eve!! We are finally in the last week of the month of May with June coming up on this week’s #FridayNightDateNight! And graduation is here once again! Congratulations to all those graduating. Exciting times have arrived and it is time for summer 2k18!

We had a quick week the past few days. On Tuesday we had District Meeting and Interviews with our Mission President. It was my last “normal” Interview before my Exit Interview coming up in a couple weeks! It is always so fun to visit with President Dalton for a few minutes. He is literally the funniest man I have ever met and I just laugh at him throughout the Interview and then he just always laughs at me because I laugh and nothing really gets discussed…just kidding we have a good relationship haha.

After that, we went on exchanges with the Prosper Elders which is the number one most wealthiest city in the state of Texas. It was one of the funnest exchanges I had because they have a few investigators and members that live at the local airport in their hangers so we were able to see lots of airplanes and pilots and talk about Aviation! Ohh, and about the Gospel as well. If any of you have seen Discover Channel’s “Airplane Repo” Kevin Lacy lives at the airport too but unfortunately he was in Florida doing a repo but met a lot of his friends and found his hanger! It was the best thing I have experienced!

Thursday and Friday Eve we were in our apartment complex lobby playing a quick round of billiards after some planning and while we were playing a young CUTE couple from Japan walked in and asked if we could do teams! I was soooo excited because I love Asians so much and we got to talk about their culture especially about my favorite food, chicken/rice/Sushi and it was incredible! They have been married for 8 months and in celebration for Friday Eve, we taught the……….Plan of Salvation!! It was incredible. They are a Christian couple and really fell in love with the life after death and knowing we did indeed live before this life. They both became new investigators and we celebrated with some cookies and got chocolate that were in the lobby. Score!

As we approach ❤️ #FridayNightDateNight ❤️ grab a lemon bar and turn on some music for a story! Friday evening there was an apartment complex/lobby party with a chicken fajitas, pool party, Filipino DJ with awesome music and 100 degree weather, it was a blast!! Lot’s of people were out enjoying the party and I got to to talk a little bit of Tagalog to the Filipino DJ while eating lots of food and enjoying the festivities. On top of that, we met A TON of couples and were teaching about Eternal Families back and fourth with sooo many people. It was tight! There was one couple that enjoyed it so much that they both held hands to the swimming pool and jumped into the water together while they kissed! It was adorable. We were able to come out of the party with 14 new investigators and we are thrilled about introducing them more to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It was a BLAST of an evening.

An exert from a talk I gave in Church a few months ago:

President Russell M. Nelson in the October 2010 General Conference said:

“Paul wrote to young Timothy, Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.” That counsel is just as valid for us now as it was then. It applies to our full-time missionaries; it applies equally to each member of the church. Whether full-time missionaries or members, we should all be good examples of the believers in Jesus Christ.”

Thanks for all the love and support! Happy June and Summertime! It is time to party!!

Bye :)
