Sister Zackrison: Hoover News!

This week was a lot of fun. Sister Dormer and I are really getting to know each other, and we are really working well. I am still learning the new area, but she has been so patient with me and has done an excellent job at answering my endless list of questions. I really am so grateful to be her companion, and to be in this area. It always humbles me when I have those moments where I know the Lord knows me personally, and knows what I need.

The members here are great! We have been working with them to help them get excited about missionary work. It has impressed me that so many of them are already seeking to find those moments in their lives where they can share the gospel. The Lord is hastening the work! Another thing that impressed me this week was Kristina, our investigator! I met her for the first time this week and wow, she is as golden as they can get! I couldn’t believe that she was being serious half the time because I haven’t really ever experienced how ready the elect truly are. She is fantastic, and I don’t feel like I deserve to be the one teaching her! She has inspired me to thirst more deeply after the scriptures, and to truly study and get to know the gospel better. We are working on setting a date with her. She would have been baptized by now, but her parents don’t want her to be baptized. She already is saving money to go on a mission and she already knows more than me. Keep her in your prayers! We need the heart of her father to be softened. I love her already.

I love being a missionary. We did a lot of walking this week, and I found it so funny how my perspectives and worries have changed. For example, we were walking through a bunch of tall grass and dirt on the side of the road. Before coming out on my mission, you would never catch me walking through dirt because I don’t like bugs. Haha. But it hit me how I just didn’t care because I was going off to do the work of the Lord. I know it is such a silly example, but it helped me to see how the Lord has had his hand on my heart, and how I am slowly being changed. I know the Lord is preparing me to reach those that I was sent here to find. I can’t wait to find them and give them the blessings of the gospel! I am so grateful to be here.

It isn’t enough to simply listen if we don’t learn.  -President Monson

Living in the same ward as the assistants to the president has been a blessing as well. They challenged us to a contact war…and we almost won! We talked to 32 people that day and tried to relate it to the gospel in some way. We had a timeframe when the challenge happened and so only 25 of our contacts counted. They beat us by two! So we had to give them each 15 compliments and an ice cream treat. That part wasn’t too fun…Haha. But they have taught us sooo much. I realized how much I don’t know this week. Haha. You would think that would stop happening by now, but it hasn’t! But it leads me to the quote of the week. It is by President Monson. He says, “It isn’t enough to simply listen if we don’t learn.” Let’s all learn something new this week! Focus your studies on the Savior since this week is Easter!

Anyways, I hope y’all have such a great week! Make it fantastic.

Love, Sister Zackrison
