Elder Koozer: Carnitas and Needed Prayers
Buenas Tardes!
This week has been a little different! We had changes, and so a bunch of missionaries got switched around! I and my companion are still together because I’m still being trained! Now my district is 2 new kids being trained too! It’s fun not being the youngest one here! One of the new guys is from Mesa too! His name is Elder Gardenhire! He is really nice and funny! I didn’t know him before because he moved from Utah to Arizona his senior year! The exact opposite as me! haha! It’s fun because he knows a bunch of the same people I know! The other kid is Elder Riveros! He is this little socially awkward Peruvian! haha! He is seriously so funny! I keep on teaching him funny Mexican words and English words! He will seriously do whatever I tell him, it’s so fun! He asked me if I know a Elder Hardison because he is a missionary in Peru that is from Arizona! haha! It’s such a small world! This week I found a new favorite food! They are called Carnitas! Carnitas are made like this:
1. Get a huge metal tub thing
2. Fill the tub with as much oil that you can
3. Heat up the tub of grease until its boiling
4. Get an entire pig or two kill them and then dump them in the boiling grease
5. Wait for it to cook, or not whatever you feel like (it’s Mexico who cares if you will get sick or not)
6. Chop up the pigs into little pieces (bone and all)
7. Put the chopped up pig in a tortilla and serve with a coke!
HAHA ok that made it sound disgusting, but it is seriously so good!! After this I and my companion are going to go celebrate his birthday by buying a kilo or two of carnitas! I’m so pumped!!
Tomorrow is my comp’s birthday and so on Sunday we went to a member’s house and they made us a bunch of tacos and this cake that was super good! It’s called Tres leches! They have the same kind of cake at Cafe Rio, but it’s ten times better here! I need to learn how to make it!
“Please help us by praying for her and pray for us to help us know how to teach her”
We have been teaching this lady named Roquele and she has a date to be baptized this next Saturday. Everything was going great until we gave her a practice baptismal interview. She believes and has a testimony that this church is true, that The Book of Mormon is the word of God, and that Joseph Smith is a prophet! She also believes and has a testimony the virgin Mary is just as important as God and Jesus Christ… She prays to her too and knows that the virgin has given her many blessings and showed her many miracles… Now we have to delay her baptism until she stops praying to Mary… Please help us by praying for her and pray for us to help us know how to teach her that this is not right. We have other Investigators named Phylis and Jonathan. They have a date to be baptized in two weeks! They both have many health problems and money problems. They need to attend church these next two weeks and not work or we have to delay there baptisms too. Please pray for them. The last investigator that I need help with is Mouricio. He is 22 and when we found him he legit thought he was a wizard… he was also reading the black bible… Now he cleaned himself up and starting reading the Book of Mormon and he goes to church every week. He knows that this is the true church. His problem is that recently he just doesn’t want to listen to us and he doesn’t want to get baptized anymore. We asked him why and he said just because he feels like being in the church is a lot of work… Please pray and ask God to soften his heart!
