ELDER LANDGREN: BIG START TO A RUFF FINISH

Well we had a really good start to this week. We tracted into like four houses, taught them the restoration, committed like 6 people to come to church. We also taught our most solid investigators Luzia and Elson. They said they were going to come to church also. We had an absolutely amazing meeting with the president about how we could work better with the members of the church.  Then after he surprised us by letting us all watch the Meet the Mormons movie it was so amazing the first real movie I have seen in so long. It was so awesome. It is amazing how big our church is now and how we truly have people under every flag with incredible stories of hope and love through the Savoir. Honestly Meet the Mormons is one of my favorite movies ever also it is coming to Canada so that will be really cool. Unfortunately all the stuff that comes here for the missionaries only really help the English missionaries because the people we teach don’t speak English (I always feel like I’m in my own little mission because we don’t have a branch or a ward). We have only 8 solid active members so compared to all the other missionaries my mission is very, very different).

We also met with a couple very key less active members of the church this last week his name is Manuel. He was a stake president back in Portugal then he moved here and become less active. Don’t blame him it is so hard here with work and having to go to a church you don’t fully understand because it’s in a different language. I know how they feel. He hadn’t let missionaries into his house for at least 3 or 4 years so it was really big that he let us in. We had a wonderful lesson with him and should be going over this week also.

Well the week went on and it was doing very good until Sunday. We had committed so many people to come to church and nobody came, and then after church we called everybody and they ignored our calls. So looks like we are going to be doing some more finding again. Oh well I feel like I’m now the best contactor and finder in the mission because literally every week we have to remake our teaching pool. The Portuguese areas have been having a rough time with people at church but I think this next week we will pick things up.

We had a wonderful dinner with my favorite family in the world the Pereira’s they are such a cool little family Elder Jesus and I reactivated them when we were together. I love that family and they feed us this thing called baculhau com natas. Oh man it is the best thing in the whole world. What it is, is codfish and cream I don’t know how they make it but it is the best tasting thing in the world.

I have the best mother in the whole world.  Well I don’t have much to report.  We are working hard in this little gigantic city I live in. Who would have thought that I would live in a city for two years considering how much I liked London. I do like this place but the city life just isn’t for me, too many people.

Also another fun fact for the week right after church we had a Baptist preacher try to force us into his church right after he gave us a couple pamphlets that had a ton of anti on our church and then right after that we were walking up a hill and some guy threw a glass beer bottle at us. Luckily Canadians play hockey so they can’t throw very well he missed by a long shot.

Can’t wait to talk to you all for Christmas.
