ELDER OLDROYD: NEW ADVENTURES!!!

So I have been transferred and called to serve in an area called Lisbon! It’s an awesome place!! It’s about 1 1/2 hours East of Ashland. In our Ward boundaries we actually have parts of West Virginia! Our Ward mission leader lives in West Virginia and we go to his house for breakfast and coordination every Friday. So every Friday morning I’m in West Virginia haha. Just in case if you wanted to know. It’s a really neat place. We have some really amazing ward members! We have some bomb family missionaries!! I have been clicking with Ward members so quickly out here it’s great. We chopped some wood on Thursday, I have been getting pretty good at chopping some wood, just saying. It’s great to see that people burn wood for heat and they save a ton of money through the winter months. It’s a significant difference. It wouldn’t be a bad idea to have in the house. But we don’t have nearly as many trees as Ohio has. Ohio’s landscape is absolutely amazing. I think it’s phenomenal of how everything grows so quickly here and how big they get! In downtown Lisbon we were walking around and I noticed on a building that is still being used saying that it was built in 1803. I couldn’t believe it haha. I have found out that I’m a very big observer. It totally helps me with missionary work that’s for sure. But I get to notice cool things like that. What’s even better is that I find that fascinating! This Sunday we had Stake Conference.  The Saturday night session was amazing. It was all about families and how we need to have family councils. In the Family Proclamation it talks about how the families are the most important thing we need to center on. With our families help we are able to get through hard trials and to be able stay away from the fiery darts of the adversary. It was a really neat session. Our Stake President (President Kirk) is such an amazing guy. One thing he said has been ringing in my head ever since he said it. “Life doesn’t get in the way. Life shows the way.” How true is that? Sometimes we feel like our lives get in the way from us progressing or moving forward to get things done. But in reality life show’s us the way with these things that we have to go through and how to do it. I thought you guys might like that.

Next week I will be able to tell you more about the investigators we have and stuff like that. Just know that this area is amazing! My new companions name is Elder Jensen. No not my trainer it’s a different Elder Jensen haha. He is from Murray and he actually goes home in 4 weeks.  So in missionary terms I’m going to kill him haha. It’s weird to think that he is going home. We talk about it often, it’s a love, hate relationship with him haha. Today I asked him what he is going to do on his first date haha. I might have gotten him a little trunky ;) but that’s okay, he can handle it. It’s weird to think I will be getting another companion in 4 weeks and taking control of the area. This transfer is a 5 week transfer due to the holidays coming up and just how President wants it to happen. I sure do miss Ashland though. But it’s good to move on and go to different areas. I already love everything about it.

It’s weird for me to think that fall is already coming up! It has been cold the last few mornings. We played one-on-one basketball this morning. It’s pretty sweet, because there is a basketball hoop on the outside of this church. I beat Elder Jensen 7-3 :) haha.  He claims he will beat me tomorrow but I doubt it! haha I just showed him.
