Elder Cowan: Deltona Fun

Howdy y’all!

I hope things are going well with you all because things are going well with us! It has been another productive week full of teaching and finding people. Probably the coolest thing about this last week was when we were at dinner on Wednesday. Because we have taken a work-all-day approach, we don’t have time for a long or large dinner. We usually go to a Walgreen or gas station to buy a quick healthy thing before heading out. We call our dinners “dumpster dinners” because we usually eat by the dumpster. But, so Wednesday we were in a Walgreen having a dumpster dinner when Elder Perez told me he wanted to check out school supplies. While we were checking them out, a lady walks up to us and asks if we were the Mormon missionaries. We said yes and she said that she was looking for us! She had met with the missionaries down in Miami, but had lost contact with them when she moved up to Deltona. We set up a return appointment and taught her on Saturday! She is super cool and we are excited to share more with her!

The rest of our investigators are progressing well. A couple of them showed up to a baptismal service on Saturday and were able to see that and understand more about what happens at baptism.

Speaking of Saturday, it was raining like I have never seen before and guess what mode of transportation we had? Yup, we had the bikes! I think that Saturday was the most wet I have been in my entire life. It was like we jumped into a pool in our white shirts and ties! We stopped at a gas station to get out of it when it was really bad. We pretty much soaked the store. We had a good time and found happiness out of misery. We didn’t have to avoid puddles which was great too! We were muddy and soaked by the end of the day!

We just keep working hard and hope for the best. We found a great quote from a poem that I really like. Stick to your task until it sticks to you, beginners are many but enders are few. Honor, power, place and praise will always come to the one who stays. Stick to your task till it sticks to you; bend at it, sweat at it, smile at it too; for out of the bend and the sweat and the smile will come life’s victories, after a while.

Have a great week and I love y’all lots! Take care!
