ELDER KOOZER: “Fixing toilets, Mexican Standard Time, and other life lessons”

Hey everyone!

It only feels like I’ve only been out 1 month! It’s actually going super well with my companions! It was true that they were both a little lazy and disobedient, but since I’ve been here we have been exactly obedient to everything and we work hard every day! The only thing that I didn’t like, and I changed, was our house. It was just completely destroyed and disgusting… After I organized and cleaned everything it’s actually a really nice house! Not as good as my last one, but still nice! It’s a little crowded with three of us but that will change in one week! Having three people is actually good for something! The other day we contacted 36 people in one hour! Also I like three people in a companionship because when I just have one companion sometimes we get a little sick of each other and with three it’s not like that! It’s like a party all the time!! One of my companions is from Yucatan Mexico.  He is really cool! He is just a straight up Mexican! The only thing he is missing is a mustache, and only because he`s not allowed! The other day our toilet broke and he taught me how to fix it with the elastic string off of a surgical mask, and the little metal ring off of a key chain! It was awesome! I’m glad I can learn important things now that will help me in the future! Another thing I learned is how Mexicans tell time! When Stake Conference is scheduled to start at 6 pm it doesn’t start until 8:20! It’s so awesome! It takes away all the stress of being late! I can’t wait to apply all these life lessons if I’m ever a bishop or stake president! My new ward seriously is super cool!! They are always calling us, asking us how they can help.  They are always offering us food and they are always giving us references! They also work by themselves to reactivate less actives!! They are super cool! On my street we have 2 returned mission presidents! On Thanksgiving one of them invited us to his house to eat with his family!! We had actual Thanksgiving food! It was so nice!! I think one of them posted a picture of us on Facebook. They are super nice! They invited us to come back on Navidad!! Also did you know that the church is renting YouTube on Dec.7?! They are putting all the church websites and things about Jesus on all the ads! Isn’t that pretty neat?! Oh yeah two more things!! We have a baptism this Friday, and Jacob (my brother from another mother) has been talking to missionaries and decided to get baptized on December 13!!!!!!! I am so happy for him! Make sure you guys talk to him about it!!  Have a great week!!
