ELDER LANDGREN: Portuguese again. One new Change. Here we go again

Well well well conference was just great. I got so much from it and to get to listen to an actual Portuguese speaker and not the awful sounding translation was just great!

This week was really good Elder Jesus and I finally had a little bit of the success we were looking for. We started by hanging out by this old Portuguese apartment complex and after a couple times going there Elder Jesus and I have become famous. The apartment is just full of old retired Portuguese people who love to talk about God and life. When Elder Jesus and I go there everybody recognizes us and are always very happy to see us. We are teaching a couple people from the complex right now. They are all mostly sweet old ladies but even they need to hear the message of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Never too old to learn something new!

The other thing is we started teaching a lady named Maria who is a bit crazy because of the sad life she has led. She is really hard to teach because well she is CRAZY, but it is only because she has a really bad relationship with a man that abuses her. It is so sad to see. He yells and screams and hits her. He is a drunk and a brute of a man. The thing is, he is a very small little thing. When Elder Jesus and I were over there trying to teach them he started to scream and yell at us from the other room. If we wanted Elder Jesus and I could put that little man right in his place and make him scared to talk to another human ever again, but we really tried to see his point of view and tried to help them both the best that we could. It is going to be a long process but I know the gospel of Jesus Christ really can help both of them. It is truly sad to see stuff like that but what do you do.

Well the last little thing for the week is. I am now the new district leader here. I am a little bummed out about that. I really liked just being a regular missionary but I guess God needs me to do something more. The plus is, I do get to go to special training things as a district leader but I think I will miss being just a regular missionary.

Well nothing else seems to be going on down here it is about to get cold. The winter is fun and nice it’s really bad for missionary work because the only way we can find people is tracting apartments and nobody really wants to talk in -40 weather on the sidewalk with us Oh well it is my last winter here so bring her on!

Just wanted to say I love you all so much. I hope you are all having fun in whatever the heck you are doing. Sounds like Kevin has a girlfriend. Well I was hoping that he wouldn’t just so when I did come home mom would nag him to get married and not me…hah
