ELDER OLDROYD: GLADYS KNIGHT AND ELDERS
What up guys! I am going to apologize up front, I don’t have much time today. This is Elder Janson’s real last preparation day so we have a ton to do. I’m in the middle of nowhere. It’s a quite area, small white duplex, and one car garage. You have it spot on. It’s an old area that’s for sure, haha. We have no big stores in our area. Country area and I love it!! It’s pretty cool being out in the boonies because it’s something I have never had in my life! In that regards it’s pretty neat. Not going to lie, I would love to live in a country area when I’m older. Out here property is super cheap. You can get a good size home with 3 acres for a lot less then what we pay for out West. It blows me away!! On the 19th we got called to assist for Gladys Knight and her choir. 12 missionaries in the mission got called to do this. We got there at 11:45 (right before noon) and didn’t get home till 2 that next morning, haha. Yeah I was a little tired for the next few days. I’m still trying to catch up on sleep to be honest, haha.
The 5:30 Fireside started and we were able to watch it a little bit, we sat in the back and all of a sudden I get this tap on my shoulder. I turn to see Lisa Firth from Grandma and Grandpa’s Ward!! Holy crap!! I wasn’t expecting that, but I thought it was really neat. I love them so much, it’s not even funny!! To top it off, I finally ran into Craig and Janine so that was awesome!! I wasn’t expecting that either!! I thought that was awesome, it wasn’t distracting to me surprisingly. The concert was amazing. So many black people!!! Standing up clapping their hands. It was great. Music was amazing, nothing like it I’m telling you. Elder Teh, if you don’t know him he spoke in General Conf. this past one. Read his talk it’s great! I conducted the meeting for Elder Teh, it was nerve racking but at the same time it was a memory I will never forget! I thought it was a wonderful opportunity to be able to do that for a special authority. It was amazing!! It really helped me on what we need to do for the rest of my life. He put into really great perspective. I used to have a past life, this is my new life, for the rest of my life. I need to live how I live right now for the rest of my life. Obviously actions speak louder than words. But that should be the goal for everyone! Weather we are RM or not. Remember that we might not have tomorrow. We need to be the best we can today and then when tomorrow comes we can be the best we can tomorrow. I love you guys and Hope you have a wonderful week!!
