ELDER LANDGREN: Baptism, Coxinhas

So this last week was pretty good. We had one little surprise this week. Our investigator Gabriel was baptized!!!! It was so awesome! Well I guess I will get to the story.

Gabriel had been coming to church for about 6 weeks now and so Tuesday we had a lesson with him and it was a very good lesson. Then finally at the end I asked Gabriel “Will you be baptized this Sunday?” He looked down at the ground and back at me and said “Yes I really needed to hear something strong today. I will do it.” You really could feel just a nice little spirit in the room. We set everything up for the interview and he went off.

On Saturday he was interviewed and didn’t pass. He told our district leader that he really wants to be baptized but he just didn’t know 100% if this was the true church. He believed in everything we taught him but didn’t know if he could live this lifestyle or if it truly was God’s church. So he came out of the interview a little sad. We talked to him a bit and he told us he was going home to pray to find out if this really was the church of God. To be honest we were a little sad too. Well later that night while we were walking down the street our phone rang. I looked down and Gabriel had texted us and said I now know that this is the true church. I’m getting baptized tomorrow. So we called our district leader told him and he said go for it!

It was so nice he asked me to baptize him and it was just a wonderful experience. It wasn’t a huge grand baptism just a nice little one. It was very nice. I will always remember all the lessons we had with Gabriel and all the tender mercies God gave us with him.

Elder Jesus and I are doing good.  We have a couple of families we are teaching right now trying to bring them to church these next couple Sundays. I had a really good week.  It also went by really fast.  It seems like the weeks are going by faster and faster. I guess that is just life though.

It doesn’t matter who you are, your talents or what you’re good at. God can use you and work with you.

Something that I learned this week is simple. It doesn’t matter who you are, your talents or what you’re good at. God can use you and work with you. True, God gives everybody talents that you should use to help people and sometimes it seems like God gives a lot more talent to other people. I truly learned that you can have any talent you want if you work and have faith in Christ. In D&C 1 it talks about who God uses to preach his gospel. He uses the weak and the humble because they are the ones that rely on him. If you truly rely on God you will find your talents and how to become a powerful successful person in life. We all have weakness but with Christ those can be perfected. I’m so happy my savior has given me this opportunity to serve and learn my weaknesses. He could have called two fluent speakers to this mission, two people to serve together who understand exactly what people are saying but he called me and gave me this opportunity to learn and grow and I’m so thankful for that.

Hope that made sense. I always type really fast cause of time.

I love you all hope you are having fun can’t wait to see you all at Christmas.

Love your son, brother, friend, cousin, or whoever I am to you.
