Elder Crocker: Happy and Sad
We’ve had both happy experiences and sad experiences this week. We got a lot of work done, and we’re hoping to have a few baptismal interviews this next Saturday.
The Happy:
- The week started slow because Elder Cabeza got sick one day, but we sped up the work for all of the other days.
- We taught a lot of really good lessons to investigators who are going to be baptized this month and even a few which are looking good for September.
- A part-member family give me an umbrella after I lost mine.
- I went on an exchange with one of our district leaders, Elder Kauer, and had a lot of success and fun.
The Sad:
- We had a family with relationship issues tell us that things are getting bad.
- My rubber shoes broke, so I’ve been using my nice leather sandals all week, and the rain has just been soaking my feet.
- I accidentally backhanded a small child when I raised my hand to point out where we were going.
- We went to the memorial service for a member who died this week, and I cried, but the plan of salvation is true, and the family is okay because they know that they’re sealed and that they’ll be together after this life.
That’s the thing about life as a missionary. There’s so much to be happy about, but there are also times when it’s sad to be around. Often, you see people sorrowing, and you know what to share with them. It’s happy when they accept it, live what you teach, and come to understand that God loves them and has a plan for them that’s not any secret. They come to know what joy is. Then it’s sad when you meet others who just choose not to accept what you share, and continue in their sorrow. All men are free to choose, and that’s what’s hard to see, when someone chooses things that won’t make them happy.
I’m glad that I’ve chosen to be happy.
Until next week,
Elder Crocker

A Few Questions and Answers:
Q:You still singing?
A:I sang with the branch choir twice yesterday, once in sacrament meeting, and the other time at a funeral service.
Q:Will the weather in Cavite just get more wet with stronger winds between now and October?
A:Yup.
Q:Where is Elder Cabeza from? How long has he been out?
A:Elder Cabeza is from Cagayan Valley, that’s at the very top of the Philippines. He’s been out since May 2013.
Q:Have you worn out either pairs of suit pants yet?
A:One pair of my suit pants is at the mission home with my suit coat, so it’s like new. All of my pants look great, not too much wear and tear. I’ve had a few pairs repaired a couple of times though.
