Elder Cowan: Mission Conference and The Book of Mormon

So this last week was really good. We had Mission Conference which is where a bunch of missionaries from different areas come together and learn about being better missionaries. We had one of the General Authorities come out and help teach us. It was great to meet him and learn from him.

We worked with a bunch of less active members this week. We mainly visited them and talked with them. Some of them have a bunch crazy stories and are great to listen to but it would be great if they came back out to church.

Our investigators are doing well. One guy who has never read from the Book of Mormon finally picked it up and read! Now we just have to get him out to church sometime. The others are doing well and are progressing just fine.

The book of mormon musical is in Orlando at this time. It is nothing like the actual Book of Mormon and mocks it but it is kind of weird to have it here in the mission. I didn’t know it was coming to Orlando until the told us how to deal with the questions that might come from those who saw the play and wanted to know what we believe.

On a lighter note, on Saturday we had a stake party. We got to hang out and meet all sorts of people. There were 8 Elders and 6 Sisters who came. It wasn’t all the missionaries in the zone but a good number of them. They had the Elders and Sisters do a pie eating contest which was a blast. We shoved our faces in the pie and got this nasty looking pumpkin pie all over our white shirts which was super funny! I’ll attach pics!
