Elder Oldroyd: It’s a clean and pure feeling

What is up Family!!!!!!

First off! Happy birthday to you Katie!! Even though it’s in 4 days, this will be my chance to be the first one to say Happy Birthday :) You excited to turn the BIG 8?!?! I turned 8 once… haha I still remember like it was yesterday! You’ll never forget about getting baptized, that’s something you will remember for the rest of your life! Just remember on how you feel on that day. Remember that! It’s hard to think about what happened exactly when you get older, but you won’t ever forget the feelings you feel! That’s one thing I tell people out here who I teach! Whether it’s them going to church, listening to our lessons or getting baptized! It’s important to focus on how you feel! That’s so awesome Katie! I’m so excited for you to get baptized! For both of you and Brooke on taking the opportunity and decision to be a member of The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints. And by doing that to receive the Gift Of The Holy Ghost! It’s truly a blessing. And to have no better person to baptize you but Dad! Dad is a great guy and if you ask for help he will help you with whatever you need. Never forget that. I think I might have been too stubborn to ask for help once or twice or maybe my whole life ;) I love the pictures though!! How are the fresh eggs tasting?! Momma it looks like you have a bunch of help as well with cooking and doing some chores! I’m glad to hear that you’re proud and can feel the spirit at the home. I pray for that everyday! I just want you guys to be happy when I’m gone. There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think about you. I’m glad you enjoyed the talks! I will have to think of another one that I either read/listened to. For some reason I can’t think of the title! But there are seriously soooo many great talks by these amazing Apostles and the Presidency.

But about my week!! It was a great week! I didn’t tell you guys one thing about last week.. Well Roger called us and left a voice message, saying that he doesn’t want to meet with us anymore. He just needs space for a couple of weeks. That tore me a part! That was my first investigator that dropped us and I was devastated. But we didn’t end up calling him back, we were just going to give him space. We gave him a little over a week and a half, we had an appointment fall through. And I turned to Elder Jenson and said we need to go to Roger’s. We rode our bikes a good two miles to Roger’s and he was sitting outside with his best friend Larry. We just started talking and then we popped the question. “So Roger why did you call and say you didn’t want us to come over anymore?” He replied saying that his life was getting way to stressed out for his comfort and just wanted to focus on himself so he wont be stressed out anymore. Well can I say I hate Satan?? Satan is pretty good at making people stressed and feel like they can’t take our lessons anymore. Roger told us he was grateful we came back and actually talked to him about stuff. He has had religious people in his life before and if Roger would have said anything like he told us, nobody would have come back for Roger. But we did. Larry also was very impressed about that because he was once a Jehovah Witness. For some reason, I don’t know he got ex communicated. They avoided Larry and basically just didn’t want anything to do with him and they still to this day 25 years ago have never came back. Larry then also said that he feels really good right now, he said every time we come over he feels a different presence. (Holy Ghost) We asked him how it feels? “It’s a clean and pure feeling” he said. Wow! That gave me the chills he was able to recognize it that well! So not are we only teaching Roger now, we are teaching Larry ;)

Yolanda and her son William came to church!!!!!!! Oh my I was so happy! They said they loved it! It was fast Sunday as you guys know, so it was a little weird for her at first. But they loved the classes! We sat next to them and the Primary President and her family sat behind us. Her son William is 10 the same age as one of the Primary Presidents sons. They went to the same class and I don’t think I have seen William that happy/smiley. It was a good feeling. We are going over to their house today and we will teach the Gospel of Jesus Christ. “How Jesus can clean our sins away, Faith in Jesus Christ, Repentance, Baptism, Holy Ghost and Endure to the End” And we will also see if they are still looking to get baptized on the 28th of this month! So that’s really exciting!

Dad you gave me some really good working skills! We have been able to do service a couple of times, and this picture you see is one of our service projects we did. We dug out the grass and laid the bricks down and made a walkway to Sister Ray’s shed. It was pretty awesome being able to help and do that to someone’s backyard. It looks pretty good! Sister Ray honestly comes up to my armpit. She is really short haha Brooke is probably her height if not taller now! I was able to help cut and put up some baseboards in Maria’s dining room! I love being able to be handy with my hands and to a help for people.

I am at the library right now and it’s awesome because I’m sitting right next to one of our investigators! His name is Minister (Jamal) Conway. haha just thought I would let you know that because he just barely showed up :) and he is reading me say this haha.

Sometime today I hope you will be getting a call from Brother Pace. He is in my ward out here but they are going to vacation back home. His wife was in the 53rd ward! Such a small world!! I promise that the clothes and blanket of mine that he will be giving you I really don’t need it just takes up space. He was nice enough to take them to you for me :) Him and his family is awesome!!

I’m also speaking next Sunday in sacrament meeting! I got the talk about conversion :) about seven minutes long his all I have to do. Honestly I am pretty stoked to speak in sacrament! I’m not nervous at all which is the complete opposite of my farewell talks haha. I love you guys and these letters I get and pictures help me so much. You are all so awesome. Stay awesome and follow the example and teachings of Jesus Christ! No matter what the Gospel will help you in your life!

Love Elder Oldroyd (Wersland)
