Elder Crocker: The Book of Mormon is True

This week felt like a punt week. We didn’t have the chance to teach many of the investigators that we actually feel have the potential to progress to baptism. There were a few days where we had the day packed with appointments, but in the end we only taught three lessons. I’m not sure what that means. Apparently this was mission wide: for the month of January, we had only 55 baptisms and 149 reactivations. That’s the lowest it’s been in years.

For better news, we have two investigators, Sister Agnes and her daughter, Sister Bea, who will be baptized on the 23rd of this month. Our other investigators with baptismal dates are pretty solid too. I’m praying for it.

More good news: I finished the Book of Mormon, Another Testament of Jesus Christ, yesterday. That’s my 9th time reading the Book of Mormon, if I’m not mistaken. It was nice to pray about it again and know that it is true. Yes, the Book of Mormon is true.

Even more good news: We’re gaining another ward in the Mandaluyong area in March! I’m currently serving in the Mandaluyong 1st ward, and it will be split along with the 2nd ward to create the Mandaluyong 4th ward. In addition to a new ward, the Church has gained a building permit for a new Mandaluyong chapel. It probably won’t be done until next year.

Our zone had the opportunity to go to the temple this week. That did, of course, kill the proselyting for the day. But the temple is always a fantastic experience.

I’ve gained another Granny. Sister Leah, who I think is one of the coolest women ever, declared to me that I was to call her “Granny” from now on. Literally “Granny,” not a Tagalog equivalent. So now I have another Granny. I am alright with this, especially because her food is always fantastic.

Until next week,
